New single from 'Burn it down' examines Bipolar experiences

Updated: Nov 15, 2021

We're launching a new single which examines Bipolar, and its impact on both individuals and their relationships.

‘Burn it Down’ will be available from the iTunes store for prerelease orders from 13/11/2021 with all proceeds being donated to Bipolar UK, the only national charity dedicated to supporting people and families affected by Bipolar to understand it and how it can be managed.

The song is close to the heart of lead singer Owen Gower, who was diagnosed with the condition in 2016. Like so many, his diagnosis was only made after a dramatic manic episode - and Burn it Down describes the searing pain and exhilaration of leaping over an edge.

Owen explains: “The lyrics are quite sorrowful, but the music and tone are actually uplifting, because there’s a real euphoria to going off that deep end. When everything inside and outside burns down, it’s awful, but it’s also cleansing. You rise out of those ashes, and you come out the other side different.”

Since Owen's diagnoses he’s been learning to manage his condition with the help of psychologists and medication. A huge support stream during this has been Bipolar UK. Their tools and resources helped Owen to come to terms with his condition and enabled his family, friends, and support system in understanding what Bipolar is and how it can be managed.

Using his experiences as a reference point, Owen has been raising awareness and helping others with Mental Health conditions through his work with mental health charities. Through articles, public speaking and his creative work, he has been open about his struggles with Bipolar in the hope others may benefit from his experience and seek help and support when it may be required.

As a band we draw from indie, rock and folk influences, with euphonic guitar creating the centerpiece for the song.

Lead guitarist Will East adds: “We all sometimes struggle internally and mental health is something we're proud to explore, and talk about, and get out there. It's something everybody can relate to in some way, certainly it's a theme that's important to us."

The new single will be released on all major platforms on Friday 26th of November.
